Bridal makeup - autumn faces

Makeup Artist tips for seasonal bridal makeup looks that can be used for everyday faces too......

Falling leaves and cooler weather put me in the mood for earthy coloured eyes and berry lips. At the moment it's hard to see past the shiny glitter and metallic makeup trends from our warmer months. Dewy skin was very in but believe me when it's windy your makeup will need to stand up to the test, glossy lips can mean hair sticking to your face when a sudden gust of breeze takes you by surprise.....

Make up Artist Tips for Autumn

Skin Health

Most important is to keep skin hydrated with a good skincare routine that works for you. Personally I use DMK products and have regular enzyme treatments, but I suggest you work with a therapist to get the most from your skincare routine.

Foundation rules
Check that your foundation is still your best colour match as your skin sees less sun you can usually go a shade lighter. My favourite tip is to have two foundation colours and you can mix to make your ideal colour. Autumn also calls for a more matte approach to skin so a less dewy application will look for seasonally appropriate

Powder Puff
Use a matte powder (I love Rimmel Stay Matte) over the top to set your foundation - apply with a large fluffy brush almost pushing it into the skin to make sure it lasts.
Applying powder helps to keep your foundation and concealer on your face for longer, it gives an even and smoother apearance and can help protect the products from fading off of your face in the elements.

Lip Colour and Formula
Choose berry or nude colours for lips, using a matte formula will ensure that no wind strewn hair will get stuck to your lips. Line your lips with pencil to avoid any bleed out from berry colours

Rosie Cheeks
In Autumn a lovely dusty rose colour on cheeks will give that "just been for a stroll in the leaves" flush that keeps skin looking youthful and not all one colour.
Sweep blush on with a brush over the apples of cheeks upwards towards the tops of your ears to lift the face.

Soft Eyes
Line eyes in browns for a softer look during the day and a sweep of matte eye shadows in earthy tones will be flattering on all eye types.

Keep Mascara on your Lashes
Use waterproof mascara in case of allergies that may cause runny eyes

Brows shape the face
Fill in brows with a brow definer (a specialised brow fine tipped marker).
Using fine strokes to shape the brow will frame the face. Another suggestion would be to get your eyebrows microbladed or feather touch tattooed to save time with minimal maintenance. Just brush through hairs in morning and go....

(More to come in future posts on my experience with feather touch tattoo eyebrows.
Please only visit a reputable beauty salon or person with great before and after examples when considering brow tattooing of any kind  - do your research)
